Katherine Von Drachenberg also known as Kat Von D was born on March 8^th, 1982 in Nuevo Leon Mexico. Growing up she was raised with her grandmother who majorly influenced her love for art. She grew up close to her parents and siblings in Inland Empire where she was exposed to many different cultures and influences. When she was 14 she got her first tattoo; a “J” written in old English font. It was a tribute to a love affair. That was when she fell in love with the work. She picked up the tool and started crafting her own artwork. Two years later she started working in a professional shop called Sin City Tattoo, she soon moved to True Tattoo a year later. She married a man named Oliver Peck and they both moved to L.A. to have there own shop. Kat Von D appears on LA Ink where she features her shop, High Voltage Tattoo Parlor. She became interested in photography and soon started to take portraits of her Clients & her Art. Her photography has a dark grungy feel to it. I like her style because it is simple and mysterious. I hope to capture the same vibe as she does in her photographs.
